Tasting Notes: Clear, ruby-purple with medium plus viscosity and slight tear stain. Very expressive nose highlighting fresh and jammy dark berries, orange peel, bacon fat, smoke, and mulled plum with hints of bergamot and purple flowers. Notes of Mexican chocolate and five-spice emerge with air. Medium plus to full bodied with medium, fine-grained tannin, medium acid, and a long finish. Exhibits a high degree of aromatic complexity, with layered berry and savory components.-MF
Galaxy Notes: The winery team took a hands off approach and let the magic of 2012 shine through. The grapes went into our brand new open top concrete fermenters, unsulfured, and 50% whole-cluster. On average, each lot spent three weeks natively fermenting on the skins until the free-run juice was transferred to 500 liter french puncheons, 15% of which were new. After 11 months, Sashi made his final assemblage decisions and he transferred the wine into larger tanks to rest and integrate another 10 months. Throughout its life, the wine was only racked twice and we bottled it un-fined and unfiltered.
